BKW Pig Switches
Shipped Overseas
BKW recently shipped five 18-inch ANSI 300 Pig Switches overseas. Three
different style switches were fabricated to fit the client’s piping
configuration. The BKW ‘Y’ and switch design configuration is
flexible and can be adapted to meet any piping situation.
BKW Pig Trap Trays Shipped Overseas
Four
pig trap trays were recently shipped overseas for a 12-inch pipeline.
Requirements for trays include a winch for removing the pigs from a
receiver and moving the tray to a launcher on rails and inserting the
pig into the launcher using a ram. This method of using one tray for
both receiving and launching reduces the need for a second tray and
pig handling equipment such as a jib crane.
Innovative Cleaning Lance Designed and Fabricated by BKW for North Slope of Alaska Project
A project on the North Slope of Alaska required removing pipe and
cleaning the pipe to a squeaky clean condition prior to shipping from
the North Slope. BKW designed and fabricated a cleaning lance with a
trolley, track, hydraulic pumps, valves and fittings. In addition,
several related items were included such as spray shields and a pig
puller for scrapping crude oil out of the pipe prior to cleaning.
This equipment worked so well, BKW received two "atta boys", 2
hats, a jacket and a shirt.

Soil Survey Conducted for Pipeline Auger Anchors
A
soil survey was performed in Alabama to determine the number and type
of auger anchors required for pipeline hold down. Survey was
conducted using a Cat 330 Backhoe and the BKW patented anchor
installation tool. The installation tool has a built-in load cell
for measuring auger anchor holding capacity.
Ball Release Pins for Sphere Launchers Shipped to Colorado
BKW
shipped 12 ball release pins for sphere launchers in the Colorado
area. Pins were designed for 3 different sizes of pipe. The BKW
design requires only a flange on the launcher for connection. The
design is simple and the pin can be removed and serviced without
factory assistance.
